Wheeling High School alumnus Patrick Tannous (Class of 2006), a communications major at University of Illinois at Chicago and co-founder of Tiesta Tea, an online store, will visit WHS with business partner Dan Klein on Friday, Nov. 12, to speak to students about the process of starting a business.
Best friends since preschool, Tannous and Klein, who attends University of Illinois in finance and entreprenership, studied abroad and vacationed in Prague, where they developed their idea for a business. After returning home and doing research, they decided last March to incorporate under the name “Tiesta Tea Company.” With guidance from some credible business advisers, the young men were able to solidify their branding, strategies and ideas.
The new entrepreneurs will bring along a few other District 214 alumni who work with them, all from the Class of 2006: Eugene Milman (WHS) Vice President of Marketing, Alex Sosnov (WHS) Vice President of Business Development, and Konrad Sadkowski (Buffalo Grove High School graduate). Tiesta Tea has 17 employees, all 22 years of age, or younger.
The alumni will speak to various business education groups, discussing their strategies, the U of I Launch Program for New Business, and the business leaders that helped them along the way. Tannous welcomes the opportunity to give back to his alma mater, where he feels the foundation for his later success began.
