WHY DRINK LOOSE LEAF HERBAL TEA?

Loose leaf herbal tea is better for you than bagged herbal tea. Loose leaf herbal tea utilizes whole tea leaves, fruits, herbs and spices allowing the full flavor and health benefits of each ingredient to steep into your cup. For bagged tea, the tea leaves and ingredients have to be chopped into tiny pieces in order to fit into a small tea bag. Whenever bagged tea is chopped up finely like that, it gives the leaf more surface area. And with that surface area comes more space for the health benefits and flavor to be released immediately into the air. Loose leaf herbal tea, on the other hand, is not chopped up like that. It stays whole and therefore holds onto all of the flavor and health benefits until it unfurls and releases it into your cup. Not only do you get stronger flavor and more natural health benefits with loose leaf herbal tea, but you also eliminate the waste of a tea bag, string, staple, etc making loose leaf herbal tea better for you and for the environment. Once you go loose, you never go bagged.

HOW TO BREW HERBAL LOOSE LEAF TEA

Brewing loose leaf tea is just three easy steps. First things first, you’ll need a mug, hot water, your loose leaf tea and an infuser/steeper. Your infuser can be anything that will strain the leaves from your hot water. If you have a tea ball, tea basket, tea pot or French press, any of those work great.

HOT TEA

1.5 TSP TEA PER 8 OZ HOT WATER

STEEP FOR 5 - 7 MIN

The great thing about loose leaf tea is you can customize it to fit your taste. You can always brew a tea stronger or weaker depending on how you like it. We recommend starting with 1.5 teaspoons of tea for every 8 oz of hot water (208°F) and adjusting from there.

ICED TEA

1 TBSP TEA PER 8 OZ HOT WATER

STEEP FOR 5 - 7 MIN

If you’re making iced tea, our rule of thumb is “double the dosage”, so use a Tablespoon of tea for every 8 oz of hot water (208°F). Brew it up hot, steep according to the tea type and then pour it over ice. We recommend doubling the dosage so that the flavor you love is just as strong when you pour it over ice. You can steep herbal tea longer for a stronger flavor.

COLD BREW TEA

1 TBSP TEA PER 8 OZ COLD WATER

STEEP FOR 2 HOURS

For cold brew, we also recommend at least a Tablespoon of tea for every 8 oz of cold water. To cold brew, add your tea to your cold water container (our favorite for cold brewing is our Flash Chiller) and let it steep in the fridge for at least 2 hrs. You can steep it overnight if you’d like to have a cup of cold brew waiting for you in the morning too
